This week has been epic, there are no other words to describe it!
You might’ve seen my previous post HERE in which I attended the ellesse Heritage A/W ’17. An amazing experience to witness the shoot of a brand that is on the rise and at the tip of many sentimental brand followers lips. Being behind the scenes, viewing the various garments on the models, it was evident a comeback by an old favourite was unfolding before my eyes.
My friends know I have a massive sneaker fetish, so spending the day observing a photoshoot on sneakers made it a real killer day. One of SA’s largest footwear retailers invited me to observe their winter ‘17 sneaker photoshoot, so, for me, just being able to spend a day surrounded by some of the latest sneaker releases was a draw card to get me up for a solid 7-hour shoot. The day however, was so much more than that.
Firstly, I got to make contact with some of the industry’s true professionals. When it comes to fashion photography, Brandon Barnard is one of the greats and his ability to take a brief and make it come to life whilst adding his own creative flair is undeniable (he’s also just a really nice dude) and the models, Tammy and Alino; down-to-earth, true professionals. The two’s personalities were almost polar opposites. Tammy being the more vocal, dancing type and Alino being the quiet, reserved one; but as a duo, they absolutely killed the shoot.
The Side Step selection of sneakers covers everyone’s style preference, collector or sneaker fan alike. So whether you are a Puma, Nike, adidas, Vans or Converse fan; you are going to love what has just landed in their stores. Until the shoot, I wasn’t aware that selected stores carried an eclectic range of leisure clothing. I found the variation and range to be on point as it represents a mixture of modern streetwear and athleisure styles which have become so popular in recent times. To me, it’s evident that Side Step have their finger on the pulse with regards to footwear and fashion trends. I really had a cool day, thanks guys!
Please see the gallery above for behind-the-scenes photos, but If you’re interested in seeing more, keep an eye out for the full shoot!
